Look back at your preliminary task (the school magazine task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to a full product?

Since I made my college magazine cover and contents page I’ve learnt more about the creation of magazines. I think you need to use the right programs for the right thing, like Photoshop for editing the photos and In Design for making the magazine. I’ve got used to using gaps to create a modern effect, and a combination of different fonts to create a good balance, such as a serif font for the text and sans serif for titles, quotes etc.

I think my photo taking has improved the more I was constrained by the size of the page and the elements I wanted on it, so I had to take more time to get the angle and distance right. I don’t like taking close ups unless I have a good idea for one; I’d rather zoom in later on if the camera is set to the highest quality photo.

When I was making the college magazine, the target audience was vague since it needed to extend to all college students. For the music magazine I was able to pick an audience and base the magazine around it, which helped me with the research. I kept relating it to the audience to ensure it’s a magazine they would want to read and I’m pleased with it overall.

  1. This needs images, more depth, a correct post title etc.
