How does your media product represent particular social groups?

To make my music magazine look realistic, I took my time when taking photos and considered things like the angle, lighting and expression, like they do in a real music magazine.

The way the model is standing on my cover is with the body facing the camera, whereas on the Blender cover Katy Perry is turned away and looking over her shoulder. It looks like a slightly higher angle, and mine was lower, but on both the covers they are making eye contact, which appears more welcoming than if they were looking away. Both the angles are the same, and the shot distance is slightly closer on my cover. I tried various lighting effects but in the end decided to take the photo without it, because then I couldn’t change it.

None of the clothing is from a wardrobe and no props are used. This was intentional so it looked indie, with her appearance as it is in real life. The other models also represent the indie genre, with tight fitted jeans and parted hairstyles.

  1. Discuss how you have represented "indie" femininity and youth in this image.
