The first way I addressed the audience was with the use of language. My music magazine is called 'Noise' which describes music in two ways; the noise when it's played and the noise of the fans. In the double page spread, I wrote 'us', which includes the readers and addresses them. I also used humour and pop culture references which I think the target audience would appreciate.
The imaginary band the Toast Waiters are supposed to be a bit like '80s style disco bands like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Heloise and the Savoir Faire. I think they would appeal to the audience because it's dance/pop music, which fits into the indie psychographic in a way.
I didn't want the design to look too cluttered and to achieve this I used conventions like white space and sans serif fonts such as 'Century Gothic'.
The unique selling point of my music magazine is that it's also about fashion. This has been done in other ones, but it would be different enough to come across as a unique feature.
